I have been studying and practicing photography since I was in High School. About three years ago my focus for photography drastically changed when my girlfriend found a 4 month old Bernese/Shepherd puppy that someone had abandoned by a dumpster in a neighboring city. Now Sofie has become one of the biggest influences in my creative work on a day to day basis. What started with taking pictures of her spiraled into a love for pet photography and quickly hurled me into the world of animal rescue. Now I work full time in animal care at a local shelter and volunteer my photography/video services to local pet rescues in the area. I see first hand how professional portraits of animals can give them such a greater chance at finding a loving home and to me that is what it is all about.Learn More

When I was a teen, I was looking through a drawing section of my local library and happened across a misplaced book, it was a book on black and white photography by Ansel Adams. From that point on I was infatuated by photography. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to pursue it until I joined the Marines and bought my first SLR camera in Hong Kong in 1998, a Canon 888. I think I photographed anything and everything I could and, of course, a lot of black and white. Fast forward to 2011 and I decided to take this hobby of mine to something more so I upgraded to digital and started studying the technical side of photography. I took my first photograph of freezing liquids with flash with that new camera, a Canon 60D, and was hooked and still today liquids is one of my favorite things to shoot when not photographing portraiture. "Fun Fact: I tend to wear a hat most of the time. Besides being follically challenged (as much as I hate to admit it, I'm losing my hair), my infatuation with hats began when I was around 8 years old. I needed stitches on the bridge of my nose. The plastic surgeon wanted to ensure that any scarring was as minimal as possible. So, he insisted I wear a hat to keep the sun from my face. I never dropped the habit. Today, my collection of hats is pretty large even though I typically only wear one or two."
