Always looking to offer more creative sets to your clients but hate lugging around double the gear? Our Gray Pine/Blue Collapsible has you covered!
Traveling with your photo equipment can be stressful but if you take some preventative steps before you leave you can set your mind at ease.
Last week I received the Rustic Planks/Red Collapsible Backdrop by Savage Universal. This is from the new Grunge Collection of Collapsible Backdrops. I own several of these drops and have become a fan due to the ease of setup, collapsibility and their effectiveness for use them in small spaces. It is also super awesome that they are reversible so you are able to get a wider variety of images with one drop!
We’re proud to introduce… The Grunge Classics from Savage. These new premium backdrops feature a unique printed texture on the front and a beautifully dyed mottled finish on the reverse, allowing photographers to easily go from grunge to classic in one photo shoot, with just a quick flip of the backdrop. Offer your headshot clients a conservative and traditional mottled color background for a staple look, and then encourage some extra flair with an urban or vintage textured style too!
Sized to 5’X7′, these collapsible and portable backdrops are easy to transport on-location or set up in small studio spaces within just seconds, no assistant required.

This week I received Savage Universal’s all new White Brick/Dark Gray Collapsible Backdrop. I have worked with previous designs of their collapsible drops before so I was very excited to get my hands on one from their new grunge collection! These backdrops are great for setup in small spaces, they collapse down for easy travel and are perfect for any type of headshot or ¾ length images you are looking to create.
I recently relocated to New York City. One thing I wasn’t able to bring was my beautiful collection of seamless backdrops, but luckily I was able to get my hands on a few of Savage’s Collapsible Backdrops which have become a saving grace for me.
When you’re traveling as a photographer, unless you have a truck that carries your entire studio with you, considerations have to be made with regard to space and size that will greatly influence the kind(s) of backdrop you carry with you.
However you wind up using them, collapsible backdrops belong as one of the top ten essential tools you absolutely must have at your disposal at all times as a photographer, indoors or out, and they’re easy to use.
Are you the type of photographer that is set in your ways? While it’s important on the one hand to be able to produce consistent results, it’s also important to push your creativity to keep your work fresh and exciting. One such way I was able to do this was by using collapsible backdrops and photographing them with lower apertures.
