I recently received the Gray Pine Printed Background Paper from Savage Universal! This is my second roll of printed paper, the first being the Whitewash Printed Background Paper. Being a photographer in the Northwoods, my clients love the rustic, weathered look so I was eager to try out the Gray Pine!

I had an 11 year old girl coming to the studio so I decided to pull out my new printed seamless paper. I easily hung the roll of Gray Pine without assistance and dropped it to where it just hit the floor. To complete the rustic look I rolled the Whitewash Printed Background paper across the floor. The printed papers are heavier than the standard seamless paper so we had no issues with ripping or tearing even as my model twirled around on the paper.

I took a variety of full length images as well as tight in shots. I especially liked the way the background looked as it faded into the background on the headshots. The color is very soft and neutral which really made my subject pop in the images and complimented all of her different outfits.

The roll of paper is only 53” wide so I feel it would be best put to use for headshots, children, newborns or even pets. My model was pretty tall for her age so I did have to extend the background in Photoshop for the full length images. I would love to see the printed paper in a 107” roll as it would be great for senior portraits as well!
